Get Your Gobble On
First things first, let’s get our materials together. You’ll need the following:
- Printable anagram turkey template (link below)
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- Construction paper in various colors
- Markers or crayons
Now that we’ve got our materials, let’s get started!
Gobble Up Some Fun
Step 1: Print out the anagram turkey template (link below) and cut out all of the pieces.
Step 2: Cut out the different colored construction paper into small squares. These will be used to create the feathers on the turkey.
Step 3: Have your child use markers or crayons to color in the different parts of the turkey’s body.
Step 4: It’s time to create the feathers! Have your child take a square of construction paper and fold it in half. Then, fold it in half again. Finally, fold it one more time to create a small square.
Step 5: Cut the small square into a triangle shape to create a feather. Repeat this process with different colored construction paper until you have enough feathers to cover the back of the turkey.
Step 6: Glue the feathers onto the back of the turkey body.
Step 7: Now for the anagram part! Write different Thanksgiving related words onto small pieces of construction paper. Examples include “Pilgrim”, “Turkey”, “Cornucopia”, “Thankful”, etc. Mix up the letters in each word and place them onto the turkey’s belly.
Step 8: Have your child unscramble the letters to figure out what each word is. They can write the correct spelling onto the back of the construction paper for extra practice!
Eat, Drink, Gobble On
And there you have it, folks! A fun and educational Thanksgiving craft that’s perfect for the whole family. So gather around, gobble up some delicious food, and enjoy some quality time together.
Happy Thanksgiving!
