It’s almost that time of year again! Time to gather with family and friends, sip hot cocoa, and exchange gifts. But of course, no holiday gathering is complete without some fun and games. And have we got a game for you!
The Left Right Christmas Game
This game is perfect for all ages and requires only a wrapped gift and some enthusiastic participants. The rules are simple:
1. Pass the gift to the left or right when prompted in the story.
2. When the story ends, the person who is holding the gift gets to keep it!
But of course, the real fun is in the story itself. It’s a wacky tale that will have everyone laughing and passing the gift back and forth like crazy. And who knows? You might end up with the best present of the night!
How to Play
First, gather everyone in a circle and pass around the wrapped gift. Then, read the story aloud, pausing at the points where the group must pass the gift left or right. Make sure everyone is paying attention, as the story moves quickly and you don’t want to end up with the wrong gift!
The Story
Once upon a time, there was a little elf named Jingle. Jingle loved Christmas more than anything in the world – well, except for maybecookies. He loved cookies too. Anyway, Jingle had a big problem. You see, Santa had left a present behind at the North Pole, and he needed someone to deliver it to the reindeer. He asked Jingle to do it, but there was a catch – Jingle had to take the wrong path to get there. Jingle was a little nervous, but he bravely set out on the path.
Jingle left the North Pole and headed towards the mountains. He was walking for what felt like hours, and the sun was starting to set. Suddenly, he heard a loud noise – it sounded like someone was playing a game of marbles! Jingle looked around and saw a group of penguins at the bottom of the mountain, playing marbles with snowballs. They were so engrossed in the game that they didn’t even notice Jingle.
“Excuse me,” said Jingle, tapping one of the penguins on the shoulder. “I’m trying to get to the reindeer. Do you know which way to go?”
The penguin looked up at Jingle with surprise. “You’re going the wrong way, my friend. You need to go right.”
So Jingle thanked the penguins and headed right. He walked through a snowstorm, a rainstorm, and a hailstorm, but he never lost his way. Finally, he reached the reindeer’s stable – but when he got there, he realized that he had forgotten the present!
“Shoot,” muttered Jingle. “I can’t go all the way back to the North Pole now. What am I going to do?”
But then he remembered – Santa always kept a backup present in the stable, just in case. Jingle found the present and was about to leave when he heard a strange noise outside. It sounded like…jingle bells?
Jingle peeked outside and couldn’t believe his eyes. Santa was flying by in his sleigh!
“Jingle! What are you doing here?”
“I forgot the present, Santa. But I found a new one, so everything’s okay.”
“Great job, Jingle. But there’s still one more problem. You’re on the wrong side of the stable.”
“Oh no!” cried Jingle. “How do I get back to the right side?”
“Just pass this gift to the left and follow the sound of my bells,” said Santa.
So Jingle passed the gift to the left, and sure enough, he heard the sound of bells. He followed the noise and eventually made it back to the right side of the stable. The reindeer were waiting for him, and they all cheered when Jingle arrived.
“Congratulations, Jingle!” said Rudolph. “You made it! And you get to keep the present as a reward.”
And that’s how Jingle saved Christmas. The end.
